TRIUMPH 675 TRIPLE CLEARED TO RACE IN BRITISH SUPERSPORT

The Directors of the Motorcycle Circuit Racing Control Board (MCRCB) have agreed to add an additional capacity to the 2006 British Supersport Championship Technical Regulations :-

Over 600cc up to 675cc 4-stroke 3 cylinder

With a minimum weight of 165 Kg and a minimum production of 1000 machines.

While the class is for predominantly 600cc four cylinder machines there is already an allowance for 750cc two cylinder machines to take part, so the precedent has been set.

It appears logical that a three cylinder machine with a 675cc capacity is also allowed to take part and the fact that this allows the Triumph, a British machine, to take part can only add to the class in the same way that the Ducati, although the only 750cc two cylinder machine, already adds to the class.

This will return the number of manufacturers represented in the British Supersport Championship to six (Ducati, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Triumph and Yamaha), which in itself is a very positive situation.   The Supersport category is of tremendous importance to the manufacturers and therefore the racing category and choices of product available to the teams and riders should reflect those available to the public.

To meet MCRCB requirements, Triumph will comply with all other homologation requirements of the FIM for the Supersport class.
